Hey hi hello! Not to state the obvious but my name is Catherine. I’m a Brit who moved to New Zealand 20 years ago and now call Palmerston North my home. In 2010 I bit the bullet and enrolled at Ucol Te PÅ«kenga where I completed my Bachelor of Applied Visual Imaging, majoring in photography and minoring in graphic design.
Once graduated I had a taste of a variety of different photography jobs. But my favourite thing to photograph was always my cats. ALWAYS my cats. Eventually they’d had enough of this and I started to photograph my friends pets to give them a break. From there, I started to work with clients and here I am 10 years later. Still crawling around on the floor after people’s pets and making ridiculous noises to get them to look at me. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
In addition to this I’ve started to sell prints and cards and assorted goodies based on my quirkier portraits. This is something I’m hoping to expand on a little more over the coming year so watch this space.
My other photography love is landscape photography. Particularly pictures of the ocean. My dad was always obsessed with watching the waves crash on the beach and evidently he passed this on to me. So when I’m not crawling around on the floor after people’s pets, you can find me at the beach with a tripod. Looking through the camera instead of at the ground and ruining another pair of trainers in the sea.
